San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness
Climb the steep cliffs and ridges that ascend to the pine-covered peaks in the northern half of the wilderness. In the central section, high mountain plateaus shelter lush, stream-splashed meadows surrounded by magnificent forests. In the south, the Desert Divide is densely covered with stands of chaparral. From the 10,834 foot summit of Mount San Jacinto you’ll look down on the eroded, boulder-strewn canyons of the desert. What a view!
Tahquitz Peak via Devil’s Slide Trail
Start at Humber Park in Idyllwild to experience the most popular hiking destination in the San Jacinto region. The scenery is incredible, the 8.5-mile trail is well-marked, and you can even bring your leashed dog.
Lake Fulmor
Snowy in the winter, warm and breezy in summer, Lake Fulmor is a delightful oasis for birding, fishing, and hiking. On the trail winding around the lake, you’ll see ground squirrels, tree frogs, butterflies, and dragonflies. Only the the raucous chatter of blue jays disturbs the serenity of this lovely location. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Renaissance Faire in Idyllwild
Take a time-travel trip to the 16th century Spanish Renaissance, recreated every year in the Shire of Idyllwild. Make merry with music, stories, dancing, and jousting. Four stages and wandering buskers provide entertainment for all ages. Food and drink – including mead and craft beer – galore.
Rustic Theatre
A theater under the Ponderosa pines offering the latest Hollywood movies, live music concerts, a full menu of burgers, sandwiches, pizza, and chocolates, and a classic movie club.
Indian Canyons Golf Resort
A 36-hole public golf course set on the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation in nearby Palm Springs. Surrounded on three sides by the San Jacinto Mountains, Indian Canyons offers a driving range, lessons, a pro shop, two restaurants, and a full bar.
Idyllwild Historical Society Museum
This award-winning museum in the heart of Idyllwild has exhibits about the legend of Tahquitz Rock, 19th century logging camps, and the Elvis Presley movie Kid Galahad, filmed here in Idyllwild. Lots more too. And it’s free!
